i love dogs! My brother likes dogs better cuz when they look at you, you look at them then when he tries to move it feels like their gonna pounce. I get that with my friend eliza who has 2 cats and they are WAY moody. I love the cat downstairs so when we went to visit, the cat sat on me. But then she fell asleep and we ended up staying for a looong time…
And ella is probably trying to wind you up. Its such an ella thing to do.
My grandparents have two cats and they act very different than how you described them. Firstly, not all cats go outside and catch rodents. Secondly, when you go to pet them they jump up to your hand showing cats do love their owners. They also love playing and chasing balls around the house in the morning just like how a dog plays fetch. They also pay attention to you and how you feel by flowing you and watching what you do. The point I am trying to make is that some cats are good and some are bad the same for dogs. Cats suit some people but not others. Dogs suit some people but not others. By the way not all German Shepards are good guard dogs (my other grandma has had several and so has my dad).
